What is a Paint Correction?

Paint Correction Services

In the professional world of auto detailing, paint correction is a multi-step process that aims to remove imperfections from a vehicle's paintwork using Skill and a Machine Polisher.

These imperfections can include:

  • Swirl marks: Tiny circular scratches caused by improper washing techniques.

  • Scratches: Deeper scratches that can mar the paint's surface.

  • Holograms: Interference patterns that create a rainbow-like effect.

  • Oxidation: A dulling of the paint caused by exposure to the elements.

  • Water spots: Mineral deposits that can etch the paint

Why is it done in levels?

Paint correction is typically done in levels to gradually address different types of imperfections. The number of levels required depends on the severity of the paint damage. A lightly used vehicle with minor imperfections may only need a light or medium correction, while a heavily damaged car may require all three levels.

How it all works

Paint correction typically involves the following steps:

  1. Washing and decontamination: The vehicle is thoroughly washed and decontaminated to remove any surface contaminants.

  2. Clay bar treatment: A clay bar is used to remove embedded contaminants that washing alone can't reach.

  3. Polishing: Specialized polishing compounds and machines are used to remove the imperfections. This may involve multiple stages of polishing with different levels of abrasiveness.

  4. Protection: A Ceramic Coating is applied to protect the newly polished paint from the elements and future damage.

Level 1 Paint Correction + 1 Year Nano Ceramic Coating

(Fixes 50%-70% of Paint Imperfections)

This level is used to remove minor scratches, swirl marks, and oxidation. It's often achieved using a polish and a machine polisher.

Level 2 Paint Correction + 1 Year Nano Ceramic Coating

(Fixes 85% of Paint Imperfections)

This level is used to remove deeper scratches and defects. It may involve using a heavier compound and a machine polisher.

Level 3 Paint Correction + 3 Year Nano Ceramic Coating

(Fixes 95% of Paint Imperfections)

This level is used to address severe damage, such as deep scratches, gouges, or fading. It may require multiple stages of correction and could involve sanding or other aggressive techniques.
